How to edit text in a PDF on iPhone
You've got a PDF with a wrong date, a typo or an old price, and no original Word file. The Files app's Markup can only add a text box over the top. To change the text that's actually there, you need an editor that works with the PDF's own text.
Change a word or line
- Open the PDF in PDF Genius.
- Tap Edit Text → Replace.
- Tap the word or line you want to change and type the new text.
- PDF Genius matches the original font size, weight and colour, and fills the background behind it.
- Tap Done Editing.
Can't easily tap it? Search for it
Tap Find & Replace and enter the old and new text. PDF Genius finds the text for you and changes it, which is handy for small print or long pages. It changes one match at a time, so run it again for each further occurrence.
Or just say what to change
Type an instruction in the chat box at the bottom, like "Change the invoice date to 12 March 2026", and the AI finds the text and edits the PDF for you.
Other edits
- Add new text: Edit Text → Add Text, then tap where it should go.
- Remove a line: Edit Text → Erase, then tap it. The background is matched.
- Undo: ⋯ → Undo Last Edit.
Fix text in any PDF and keep the original look.
Download on the App StoreWhen you're done, ⋯ → Export & Share sends the edited PDF, and Print prints it directly.
